Clemson DT Hevin Brown-Shuler shares GoFundMe amid cancer diagnosis
Clemson defensive tackle Hevin Brown-Shuler has begun his treatment journey after recently being diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma, and the Clemson community is already showing the kind of support that makes the phrase “Clemson family” feel less like a slogan and more like something real.
Clemson Football shared a message of support for Brown-Shuler, writing that his treatments and journey to defeating Hodgkin lymphoma have begun. The program also shared a GoFundMe organized by Brown-Shuler’s godparents to help support him and his family through the process. As of the latest update shown on the fundraiser, more than $4,000 has been raised toward a $50,000 goal in the four hours the GoFundMe has been up.

According to the fundraiser, doctors discovered a mass in Brown-Shuler’s chest, leading to the diagnosis. The page also notes that his prognosis is “very good" and that Brown-Shuler is approaching the challenge with optimism and determination.
Brown-Shuler is not just another name on a Clemson roster. He is someone people around campus know as a positive presence. I had a class with Hevin, Argument and Debate, and he was always the kind of person who brought good energy into the room. He carried himself with an easy positivity that made him someone people naturally enjoyed being around, which is no surprise to see teammates, fans, and the Clemson community rally around him now.
The fundraiser also states that Brown-Shuler’s mother has temporarily closed her business to prioritize being present for his daily care, including nutrition, travel expenses, doctor visits, and other needs during his recovery. That adds another layer to why the support matters. This is not just about one player going through treatment. It is about a family adjusting its life around him and trying to make sure he has everything he needs.
