Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is ready to leave last season in the past. After a standout year that saw the team finish 12-5 and reach the NFC Championship Game, Daniels faced a frustrating sophomore season marred by injuries that limited him to just seven games.

Last season, he started only four games due to three different injuries, which inevitably impacted his performance and the team's success. Following the Commanders' second practice of their three-day minicamp, Daniels was asked if the setbacks from the previous year would drive him in the upcoming 2026 season. His response was clear: "I'm done talking about last year. Last year is last year. Moving on to this season, and whatever happened last year is what happened last year. Can't do anything for me but just continue to get it better."

While it's understandable to be motivated by past challenges, Daniels is looking ahead. His former classmates, Drake Maye and Caleb Williams, have found success, with Maye even taking the New England Patriots to the Super Bowl. However, neither matched the level of play Daniels exhibited during the Commanders' playoff run two years ago. Rather than feeling envious, he remains focused on proving he's the top quarterback from the 2024 draft class.
