Cowboys Tackle Prospects Get Guidance from Hall of Famer Tyron Smith

The Dallas Cowboys are acutely aware of the challenges they face at the tackle positions heading into the 2026 season. Despite ongoing struggles with performance at both left and right tackle over the past two years, the organization remains optimistic that quarterback Dak Prescott can navigate these difficulties. First-round pick Tyler Guyton, selected in 2024, has yet to meet the expectations associated with his draft status at left tackle, but the team is allowing him to enter his third year without any veteran competition.

On the right side, Terence Steele has agreed to a pay cut this offseason, highlighting his struggle to establish himself as a top-tier tackle. Both players are now presented with a final opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities, as the front office evaluates their future with the team. To support their development, the Cowboys have enlisted the expertise of future Hall of Famer Tyron Smith.

As the team kicked off their first organized team activities (OTAs) of the offseason, which took place on Monday and Tuesday, the tackle group, including Guyton and Steele, received personalized instruction from Smith, who played for the Cowboys from 2011 to 2023. Smith's impressive career includes seven consecutive Pro Bowl selections, during which he was regarded as one of the best tackles in the league. Although injuries have impacted his later years, his skills and knowledge remain invaluable to the team.

As the Cowboys look to solidify their offensive line, the involvement of a legendary player like Smith could prove pivotal in shaping the performance of their young tackles this season.
