Eagles have a $20M reason to re-sign TE Dallas Goedert in free agency
After adding Sean Mannion and Josh Grizzard to the coaching staff, the Eagles' roster will likely undergo further changes, changing the dynamic of Nick Sirianni's team. The Birds have 21 players who'll test the restricted or unrestricted free-agent market during the 2026 NFL offseason. Last offseason, the Eagles lost Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, Isaiah Rodgers, and several other key free agents from the Super Bowl-winning team.
The Eagles are expected to let some of their key free agents walk this offseason, but they will try to bring back a few. During his end-of-season press conference, Roseman said the Eagles are losing lesser-talented players so the team can retain elite talent with contracts looming. One player who could depart is Dallas Goedert.
Goedert will have heavy interest on the open market, but when his contract voids, Philadelphia will accrue a $20 million dead cap hit if the tight end signs with another team.
With less than a week to the start of the negotiating window, #Eagles TE Dallas Goedert is positioned to hit free agency for the first time in his career. Sources say the team has expressed interested in re-signing him and the sides will continue talking in the coming days.… pic.twitter.com/mpMC2ZEhIf— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) March 3, 2026
Goedert is 31 years old, and despite his overwhelming talents, the tight end has never had a 1,000-yard season or made the Pro Bowl. Still, Goedert is a warrior, and when he's healthy, the talented pass catcher is one of the top tight ends in the NFL. In one of the healthiest seasons of his career, Goedert started 15 games, catching 60 passes for 591 yards and a career-high and Eagles franchise high 11 touchdown catches. Goedert had touchdowns in the playoff loss.
