Elena Rybakina Leads the Draw at Queen’s Club HSBC Championships; Exciting Matches Ahead
This year's Queen’s Club HSBC Championships in London will feature Elena Rybakina as the top seed, marking her strong presence in the tournament. Joining her in the upper half of the draw are notable players including Strasbourg finalist Victoria Mboko and Madrid Masters 1000 champion Marta Kostyuk.
Ranked second in the world, Rybakina will begin her tournament with a first-round bye and may face Maria Sakkari in the second round. Sakkari, who reached the quarterfinals in London last year, has 108 points to defend. If all goes as expected, Leylah Fernandez could be Rybakina's opponent in the quarterfinals, provided Fernandez overcomes wild card Katie Boulter, followed by either Qinwen Zheng or Jaqueline Cristian.
Victoria Mboko, just 19 years old, also receives a first-round bye and awaits either former World No. 1 Karolina Pliskova or McCartney Kessler in the next round. Should Mboko advance, she might face Marta Kostyuk, who starts her London journey against 17-year-old wild card Mika Stojsavljevic. If the seeds hold, a quarterfinal clash between Mboko and Kostyuk could be on the horizon.
The bottom half of the draw includes World No. 4 Amanda Anisimova as the second seed, along with French Open quarterfinalist Sorana Cirstea and Belinda Bencic. Anisimova will kick off her campaign in the Round of 16, facing the winner of a match between Laura Siegemund and wild card Francesca Jones. Alexander Eala will also begin against a qualifier, with Iva Jovic potentially awaiting her in the Round of 16.
In the lower section, fourth seed Bencic starts with a bye in the round of 32, while wild card Harriet Dart and Liudmila Samsonova will compete for the chance to challenge her. Cirstea and Emma Raducanu will also face qualifiers in the Round of 32, with a possible Round of 16 matchup that could lead to a quarterfinal encounter against Bencic if the draw unfolds as anticipated.
The qualifiers will be finalized and integrated into the main draw following the qualifying matches on Sunday.
