OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — In a thrilling finish, Emma Clarke's leadoff home run in the bottom of the ninth propelled Tennessee to a 2-1 triumph against Texas Tech in a key winner's bracket matchup at the Women's College World Series on Saturday. Clarke's powerful shot to deep center field, paired with exceptional defensive plays and outstanding pitching from the Lady Vols, advanced Tennessee to the national semifinals with an unblemished 2-0 record.

The seventh-seeded Volunteers (49-10) are set to face either Texas, Alabama, or Nebraska on Monday, with an opportunity to move closer to the championship series. Meanwhile, the eleventh-seeded Red Raiders (58-8) will compete against UCLA in an elimination game on Sunday.

Tennessee’s starting pitcher, Karlyn Pickens, held a shutout and a 1-0 lead as she entered the seventh inning. However, a sacrifice fly from pinch hitter Desirae Spearman allowed Taylor Pannell, a former Tennessee player, to score the tying run. Initially ruled out at home on a throw from center fielder Sophia Knight, a video review revealed that catcher Elsa Morrison had missed the tag.

Reliever Sage Mardjetko (16-2) came in but walked the first batter, loading the bases. The inning concluded with a remarkable diving catch by left fielder Alannah Leach.
