Fernando Tatis Jr. Breaks Home Run Drought for Padres
The San Diego Padres have made a strong start to their season, boasting a 32-24 record as of Saturday. This performance places them just four and a half games behind the reigning World Series champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
While the team has received consistent contributions from stars like Manny Machado and Xander Bogaerts, who have both surpassed 20 RBIs, one key player has struggled. Fernando Tatis Jr., a significant part of the lineup, has had a notably dry spell, recording no home runs in the current season. Leading up to Saturday’s game against the Washington Nationals, Tatis had gone 55 games without hitting a home run, marking the longest such stretch of his career.
That changed dramatically in the fifth inning of the game when Tatis connected with a pitch from Foster Griffin, sending it soaring into left field. This marked his first home run of the season and helped the Padres take a two-run lead over the Nationals.
The Padres continue to look for ways to maintain their strong performance as they aim for a playoff spot this year.
