Florida State’s Lajae Jones Participates in Predraft Workout with OKC Thunder

As June ushers in the summer season, the Oklahoma City Thunder are focusing on their future following a devastating Game 7 defeat to the San Antonio Spurs, which ended their quest for consecutive NBA championships. With this loss, 28 teams are now fully engaged in preparations for the upcoming NBA draft.

The Thunder are in a unique position, aiming to balance their championship aspirations with the opportunity to enhance their roster through the draft. They will enter the 2026 NBA draft equipped with three picks: the 12th selection from the LA Clippers, the 17th from the Philadelphia 76ers, and the 37th from the Dallas Mavericks.

Jones, who played three seasons of college basketball from 2022 to 2026, began his career at Tarleton State before transferring to St. Bonaventure and ultimately finishing at Florida State. In his latest season, he recorded averages of 12.7 points on 42.7% shooting, along with 5.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists over 33 games, and he made 32.5% of his three-point attempts on 5.1 shots per game.

The 22-year-old guard stands 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds. Most analysts suggest he may not be selected in the draft, likely placing him outside the top 60 prospects. This could open the door for the Thunder to sign him to a Summer League contract, allowing him the chance to prove himself and possibly earn an invitation to training camp.

The 2026 NBA draft is scheduled for June 23-24, and the Thunder are eager to bring in new talent to extend their competitive window around key players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams.
