Former NFL Star Weighs In on Brandon Aiyuk's Tensions with 49ers

Brandon Aiyuk’s ongoing drama with the San Francisco 49ers has caught the attention of former NFL wide receiver Jarvis Landry, known for his time with teams like the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints. Aiyuk recently stirred controversy after sharing a second video on Instagram where he criticized the franchise that selected him in the first round of the 2020 draft.

During an episode of the 4th and South podcast, Landry expressed concern over Aiyuk's recent actions, saying, “Man, somebody needs to get that phone from him. There is a mental component that comes into the game, and the game is not just physical.” He emphasized the importance of mental well-being in sports and suggested that Aiyuk should reach out for support.

Aiyuk has openly voiced his frustrations with the 49ers, previously stating they should "stop running from the belt" and accusing the organization of being "scared" to let him go. He also criticized the team's decision to pay him $50 million over eight months before canceling his guarantees for 2027, a move he believes signals an impending exit in 2026.

Landry urged Aiyuk's teammates and former colleagues to step in and provide support, hoping they will reach out to him. Co-host Leonard Fournette echoed this sentiment, encouraging Aiyuk to connect with them directly.

As speculation continues, many anticipate Aiyuk may eventually find himself with the Washington Commanders, largely due to his prior connection with quarterback Jaden Daniels from their days at Arizona State. However, 49ers General Manager John Lynch appears determined to secure a trade for Aiyuk before any potential exit occurs, suggesting that a resolution to this situation may take shape before roster cuts in August.
