Giants Edge Brewers 1-0 Behind Webb's Stellar Performance and Bericoto's First Homer

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The San Francisco Giants secured a narrow 1-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night, thanks to a dominant pitching performance from Logan Webb and a key home run from rookie Victor Bericoto. Webb, who improved his season record to 3-4, carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning, ultimately allowing just one hit and one walk over seven frames.

The only blemish on Webb's outing came when Brice Turang hit a single to left field with one out in the seventh. Until that point, Webb had kept Brewers batters off balance, issuing a walk to Sal Frelick in the sixth inning but otherwise maintaining control. Keaton Winn came in to close out the game, earning his second career save and first since last season.

Milwaukee threatened in the final innings, leaving potential tying runs in scoring position twice. In the ninth, Christian Yelich doubled to right and advanced to third on a groundout, but Winn struck out Turang and got William Contreras to ground out to shortstop Willy Adames, sealing the win for the Giants.

Bericoto's pivotal contribution came in the fifth inning when he launched a 385-foot home run to right-center on a 2-0 pitch from Brewers starter Robert Gasser, who was making his MLB debut after being called up from Triple-A Nashville. Gasser finished with five strikeouts and allowed five hits and one run in five innings.

This victory marked just the second win for the Giants in their last nine games, while also ending the Brewers' three-game winning streak. In the upcoming finale of this four-game series, Adrian Houser (2-2, 5.59 ERA) is set to pitch for San Francisco, while Coleman Crow (0-0, 3.14) will take the mound for Milwaukee on Thursday.
