Giants Fans Hate the Team’s Latest Controversial Move

The New York Giants are just 22-45-1 in the four seasons Joe Schoen has been general manager.

And yet, the team seems pleased with the work Schoen has done this offseason, arguably the best offseason in recent memory.

The Giants drafted Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese, Miami offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa, Tennessee cornerback Colton Hood, and Notre Dame wide receiver Malachi Fields, and added tight end Isaiah Likely, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, cornerback Greg Newsome II, safety Ar’Darius Washington, and wide receivers Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin III.

Those moves seemingly won over team owner John Mara, as Schoen was rewarded with a fat new contract on Thursday.

“The #Giants and GM Joe Schoen have agreed to terms on a multi-year extension to keep him working with John Harbaugh for years to come, per me and @MikeGarafolo,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport posted on X. “After a successful offseason, including the work during the NFL Draft, Schoen is rewarded with a new deal.”

Immediately after the news was announced, Giants fans hit social media to vent their frustration with Schoen’s extension.

The 46-year-old GM has been a hated man among the fan base ever since he let star running back Saquon Barkley walk in free agency and watched him win an Offensive Player of the Year award and a Super Bowl championship with the division rival Philadelphia Eagles in his first season.

“Bro what he’s been [expletive]. The only reason why this off-season has been good is cause John Harbaugh has been serving as the de facto GM,” one fan stated.

“Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. You give an extension to the Worst GM in all of professional sports. Maybe this is why our franchise has been laughed at for 10+ years @Giants ????” another fan asked.

“So the Giants just announced they don’t give a [expletive] about winning. Got it 👍🏻,” a third fan scoffed.

“😂😂😂 this team ain’t going nowhere for a long time, the NFC East will remain a 3 team race 😂,” one user remarked.

“This guy is an absolute moron. How do I get in on a role like this?! I know I’m wayyy smarter than this guy so where is my GM role?!” another user replied.

“Giants just gave the GM an extension, after losing Saquon, giving D Jones a bag, and winning 4 games last year…God bless America 😓,” another fan wrote.

“This dude must have some serious dirt on the Mara family,” one user commented.
