SOFTBALL

CLASS 3A

Centralia Sectional

No. 1 Chatham Glenwood 10, No. 3 Marion 0 (5 innings)

Sophia Feld and Ryleigh Kiel both homered, and the Titans advanced to the sectional championship game.

Sophia Feld (2-for-4, two runs) drove in Kiel and Hope Gilmore when she lifted a three-run home run to center field in the top of the first inning. Glenwood tacked on five runs in the second. Kiel and Gilmore (2-for-3, run) each had an RBI single, and Sydney Feld drilled a three-run triple to give the Titans an 8-0 lead.

Glenwood's Sophia Feld hits a home run during the Class 3A state championship game against New Lenox Providence Catholic in softball Saturday, June 14, 2025.

Kiel (2-for-2, two runs) hit a solo homer, and Sophia Feld finished her four-RBI day with a run-scoring single in the fifth. Jemma Lamb had a hit and scored three runs, and Kyleigh Donnelly collected two hits and scored a run.

Senior pitcher Irie Lohrenz went the distance and threw a two-hit shutout for the win. She struck out five and walked three.

GIRLS SOCCER

CLASS 1A

Rochester Sectional

No. 1 Williamsville 1, No. 2 Rochester 0 (SO)

Williamsville junior goalkeeper Brynn Stark only made one stop in the penalty-kick shootout, but it was all the Bullets needed to fend off Rochester.

When Calynn Frye put Williamsville's fifth penalty-kick shot into the net, it touched off a celebration to give Williamsville a 5-4 edge in the five-round shootout.

Williamsville (19-5-2) hasn't allowed a goal in three postseason games, outscoring opponents 17-0. Williamsville was held to just three shots on goal and despite the Rockets putting 11 on net, Stark stopped them all to force the shootout.

The Bullets will face No. 1 Pleasant Plains after the Cardinals downed No. 3 Mount Zion 7-0 in Tuesday's other semifinal. Plains (22-0-2) won both matches this season: 4-0 on April 3 and 5-1 on May 1.

Grace Sabatka, Caroline Willenborg and Bailey Leach all had a pair of goals to spur the Cardinals on Tuesday against Mount Zion. Callie Wagner had the other goal for Pleasant Plains.
