Greenville Drive Struggles in Loss to Winston-Salem

GREENVILLE, SC. – The Greenville Drive faced a tough night as they managed only one run from four hits, resulting in a 9-1 defeat against the Winston-Salem Dash. This loss brings Greenville's record to 24-33, while Winston-Salem improves to 34-26. The teams had combined for 15 runs and 18 hits in the first two games of the series, highlighting the drop in offensive performance.

Jojo Ingrassia started on the mound for the Drive and delivered three scoreless innings, allowing a single hit and striking out four batters. However, after he exited, Joe Vogatsky took over in the fourth inning. The Dash struck first in the game when Kaleb Freeman hit a solo home run to center field in the fourth, putting them ahead 1-0.

Winston-Salem's lead grew in the sixth inning as Caleb Bonemer launched a home run over the left-field fence, extending the score to 2-0. Vogatsky left the game with runners on the corners and one out, allowing P.J. Labriola to enter and quickly manage the situation.

The seventh inning proved disastrous for the Drive, as Winston-Salem erupted for six runs. Kyle Lodise started the rally with an RBI single, followed by a throwing error from Greenville. George Wolkow then hit a three-run home run, further widening the gap. Alex Ungar capped off the inning with another RBI single, making the score 8-0.

Greenville finally scored in the seventh, thanks to a double play that allowed Freili Encarnacion to cross the plate, bringing the score to 8-1. The Dash added one final home run by James Taussig, concluding the game at 9-1. Greenville left 10 runners stranded and struggled with their chances, going just 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position, while the Dash's pitching staff recorded seven strikeouts. Vogatsky received the loss after giving up two runs over 2.1 innings of relief. The teams will clash again on Friday evening for game four of the six-game series, with first pitch set for 6:45 PM.
