Greenville ISD Appoints New Basketball Coaches for Upcoming Season
As the new school year approaches, Greenville Independent School District has made significant advancements in its athletic department by announcing the hiring of Cindee Wright and Anthony Portley as the new head coaches for the Lady Lions and Lions basketball teams, respectively.
Cindee Wright brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having earned her Master of Education in teaching from Ashford University. Her coaching background is extensive, with previous positions as an assistant coach at various colleges, including both community colleges and universities. Additionally, she has held head coaching roles at Vermilion Community College, Cavalry Baptist Academy, Southwood High School, and Minden High School, according to her LinkedIn profile.
In contrast, Anthony Portley is no stranger to the Greenville community. A graduate of Greenville High School, where he played for the Lions, Portley has accumulated valuable coaching experience, including a recent position as an assistant coach at East Texas A&M University. He returns to his roots with the goal of guiding the basketball program forward alongside Wright.
The addition of these two coaches signifies a promising new chapter for Greenville ISD's basketball teams as they look to enhance their performance in the coming seasons.
