High School Sports Recap: Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, June 1-7

In baseball action on June 4, St. Xavier edged out Oak Hills with a close score of 6-5 in the OHSAA Division I regional final. Harrison also secured a victory, defeating Anderson 6-3 in the Division II regional final, while Badin shut out Vandalia Butler 5-0 in the Division III regional final. Fenwick narrowly triumphed over Roger Bacon with a score of 5-4 in the Division IV regional final. In softball, Highlands won their first-round match in the KHSAA state tournament, defeating South Laurel 3-0.

On June 3, the baseball playoffs continued with Moeller dominating Centerville 7-0 in the Division I regional final. The regional semifinals saw St. Xavier narrowly beat Elder 1-0 and Oak Hills outscore Mason 11-5. Harrison and Anderson also advanced in the Division II semifinals, winning against Loveland and Worthington Kilbourne, respectively. In boys lacrosse, St. Xavier secured a spot in the OHSAA Division I state finals with an 8-7 victory over Upper Arlington, while Columbus St. Francis DeSales edged past Mariemont 14-13 in the girls lacrosse Division II state semifinals.

June 2 featured more exciting baseball matchups, with Moeller defeating Grove City 8-0 in the Division I regional semifinals and Badin overpowering Tipp City Tippecanoe 10-0 in Division III. Fenwick had a commanding win against Newark Licking Valley with a score of 16-6, and Roger Bacon also advanced with an 8-1 victory over Tipp City Bethel in Division IV. In other regional action, Versailles and Fort Recovery clinched their spots in the next round, winning their respective Division V and VI semifinals.
