Jack Pridham Declines Blackhawks Offer Ahead of NHL Draft
Jack Pridham has opted not to sign with the Chicago Blackhawks before the NHL Draft, as reported by Scott Wheeler of The Athletic. The deadline, which fell on June 1, means that Pridham will now be eligible for selection in the upcoming draft rather than joining Chicago's roster.
Originally picked 92nd overall by the Blackhawks in the 2024 NHL Draft, Pridham's decision comes as a surprise, especially given his solid performance in junior hockey. The 20-year-old right winger, standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 185 pounds, has shown promising talent during his two seasons with the Kitchener Rangers in the OHL, where he amassed 90 points this year with 46 goals and 44 assists in 65 games.
Pridham's journey has seen him shift from the BCHL's West Kelowna Warriors to the OHL, and he even decommitted from Boston University to focus on his development with Kitchener. While he may be viewed as a mid-round prospect, his potential remains noteworthy, and it's clear he assessed his standing within the Blackhawks' organization before making this pivotal choice.
The Blackhawks' decision not to secure him may be seen as a missed opportunity, but the focus now shifts to the upcoming draft, where Pridham hopes to find a new team eager to capitalize on his skills.
