Jerry Stackhouse Reflects on Insights Gained from Coaching with Steve Kerr

After spending two seasons as part of Steve Kerr's coaching team, Jerry Stackhouse, a veteran with 18 years of playing experience, is now exploring opportunities to secure his first head coaching role in the NBA. He has already interviewed with the Portland Trail Blazers and is considered a potential candidate for the Chicago Bulls' coaching position.

While contemplating his next steps, Stackhouse made an appearance on FanDuel TV's "Run It Back," where he discussed the valuable lessons he learned under Kerr's leadership. Joining him were former NBA players, including DeMarcus Cousins. Stackhouse noted, "With Steve, it was all about, you know, he wants those guys' joy. His messaging was always on point." He emphasized Kerr's commitment to open communication, stating, "I saw how Steve, you know, he wants conversation. He wants to make sure that you understand—even the coaching staff—just constantly confirming with everybody to make sure that you know where you stand and you know what we're trying to get accomplished."

Stackhouse, who previously led the G-League team Raptors 905 to a championship, recognizes the importance of talent development. With the mentorship he received from Kerr, Stackhouse has emerged as a highly regarded candidate in the coaching market.
