Kagiso Rabada has secured the Purple Cap for IPL 2026, finishing as the tournament's leading wicket-taker despite the Gujarat Titans losing to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final. The South African pacer had an exceptional season, taking 29 wickets over 17 matches with an economy rate of 9.68. Although Gujarat Titans were defeated by five wickets in Ahmedabad, Rabada's remarkable performance throughout the tournament ensured he led the wicket-taking statistics.
This achievement marks Rabada's second Purple Cap win, having previously earned the accolade in 2020 while playing for the Delhi Capitals, where he took 30 wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar of Royal Challengers Bengaluru closely followed Rabada, finishing the season with 28 wickets in 16 matches. Bhuvneshwar played a vital role in RCB's title defense, boasting the best economy rate among the top five bowlers at just 7.95 runs per over. His standout performance included impressive figures of 4 for 23.
Completing the top three was Jofra Archer from Rajasthan Royals, who took 25 wickets in 16 matches with an economy of 9.31, showcasing his pace and effectiveness throughout the tournament. In fourth place, Rashid Khan of Gujarat Titans stood out as the only spinner in the top ten, accumulating 21 wickets while maintaining an economy rate of 9.08. Rounding out the top five was Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings, who emerged as a breakout star, also taking 21 wickets in just 14 matches, despite having the highest economy rate of 10.52 among the top performers.
