Kane Urges England to Embrace Freedom Ahead of World Cup Opener

As England prepares to face Croatia in their World Cup opener in Texas, captain Harry Kane has encouraged his teammates to "go for it" and maintain a "free mind" during their pursuit of the trophy. The team enters the tournament as one of the favorites, bolstered by past performances despite a lengthy wait for their first major win in six decades.

Kane, who plays for Bayern Munich, emphasized the importance of seizing this opportunity, stating, "For sure it's one of the best opportunities we will have as a team to win it." With a blend of seasoned players and emerging talent, he believes that starting strong is crucial: "Ultimately, for me, the message is just to be free in the mind."

Injuries have impacted the squad, as defender Tino Livramento was ruled out of the tournament due to a calf injury sustained during training. He has been replaced by Trevoh Chalobah. Coach Thomas Tuchel expressed disappointment over Livramento's absence, acknowledging his readiness and importance to the team.

England has faced challenges in previous tournaments, narrowly missing out on glory in the European Championships and reaching the World Cup quarter-finals in Qatar last year. Tuchel, who aims to guide his adopted nation to victory, hopes fans will enjoy the match and appreciate the players' dedication, saying, "I hope they can feel and see tomorrow what I felt and saw the last 16 days."

England's journey begins in a competitive Group L, which also includes Ghana and Panama. With high expectations from supporters, Tuchel remains optimistic but cautions against being overly ambitious, stating, "We have a right to dream, but we don't want to be delusional."
