Key Official Visits This Weekend Could Shape Future Commitments for Several Top Recruits

This weekend marks another significant opportunity for college football programs as several talented recruits embark on official visits. With commitments rapidly rolling in, schools like Utah, Oregon, Cal, Vanderbilt, BYU, and Oregon State are poised to enhance their recruiting classes. Here, we highlight seven prospects who may soon announce their decisions following their campus visits.

Kamil Loud, a defensive back from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, is leaning towards Cal after visiting Washington last weekend. Loud has long been a fan of the Bears, having attended Cal games during his childhood in the Bay Area. With the current coaching staff making a strong impression on him, Cal is positioned well to secure his commitment.

Quarterback Matthew Smith from Santa Margarita, California, is visiting Princeton but has already checked out Vanderbilt. Despite the detour, Smith expressed enthusiasm about his time with the Commodores, where he was treated as a top priority recruit. Although San Jose State and Utah are also in the mix, a decision could come soon after his weekend visit.

Utah is also looking to secure commitments from Taylay Patterson, an athlete from Chandler, Arizona, and Carvel Waver, a running back from Clovis, California. Patterson is primarily being recruited as a defensive back and has been in close contact with Utah coaches. Waver, known for his versatility and speed, has no other official visits lined up, making his commitment to the Utes seem likely.

Meanwhile, linebacker Kawai Chamberlin from Eugene, Oregon, appears to be favoring Oregon State after a previous visit left a strong impression. Originally expected to visit Minnesota, those plans have changed, which now enhances the Beavers' chances. In addition, Peyton Higginson, an athlete from Salem, Utah, is predicted to commit to BYU, although he is not visiting any schools this weekend.

Finally, tight end Jamie Spurgeon from Minarets, California, is now set to visit Cal instead of Texas Tech, significantly improving the Bears' recruitment efforts. With interest from other programs like Washington State and Utah, the competition remains fierce, but Cal's proactive approach gives them an edge.
