LeGarrette Blount Declares 49ers Will Remain a Force in the NFL
The San Francisco 49ers had a strong showing in the 2025 season, finishing with a record of 12-5 despite facing numerous injuries. They secured a tie for second place in their division and eliminated the reigning Super Bowl champions from the playoffs. Although they ultimately fell to the Seattle Seahawks in the divisional round, their season was largely viewed as a success.
With the Seahawks having won the Super Bowl last year and the Los Angeles Rams making significant upgrades during the offseason, the 49ers have been somewhat overlooked by analysts. However, LeGarrette Blount, a former NFL running back and three-time Super Bowl winner, remains convinced of San Francisco’s potential in 2026. Speaking on "Good Morning Football," Blount said, "I'm on that train too. Mike Evans is a dog. Adding a big-time veteran like that around guys like Christian Kirk and guys like Ricky Pearsall, you have guys that are going to be able to play ball."
Blount also emphasized the importance of the team's returning quarterback, who dealt with injuries last season, and highlighted the talents of Christian McCaffrey, whom many consider one of the top running backs in the league. He stated, "I'm not looking past these guys at all. The San Francisco 49ers are going to always be a problem... They know how to put a team together. They know how to get a quarterback. I'm on the San Francisco train. I like them."
As the 49ers prepare for a challenging 2026 schedule, which includes two international matchups, their ability to stay healthy will be crucial as they aim to compete in one of the NFL's most competitive divisions. If they can secure a playoff spot, they will likely be viewed as a formidable opponent.
