The New York Liberty weren't necessarily expecting Sabrina Ionescu to save them from losing to the Dallas Wings on Sunday.
But in her return from injury, Ionescu did perform an odd disappearing act that will have to get fixed up as the season goes along.
In the 91-76 loss, Ionescu finished with 11 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds.
She hadn't played in the first five games of the regular season because she hurt her left foot in the preseason.
Getting Ionescu back was a conceptually big deal for the Liberty, but it didn't play out as well as they would've liked.

She scored four early points and then put together a solid first half.
But Ionescu didn't score beyond the 5:11 remaining mark in the second quarter.
Ionescu wasn't limited from a minutes perspective -- her 31 minutes played were second on the Liberty behind just Breanna Stewart (34).
The problem, really, was that she couldn't make anything. Ionescu finished the game 4-for-15 from the field, including 2-for-5 from 3-point range.
The good news is her seven assists came with just one turnover.
All told, the Liberty saw a lot of what they'd want to see out of Sabrina. They'll just need her to limit the lengthy scoring droughts, and everything should be just fine.
