Liberty's Winning Streak Reaches Six with 104-90 Victory Over Dream
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — The New York Liberty extended their winning streak to six games following a 104-90 triumph over the Atlanta Dream on Thursday night. Breanna Stewart and Satou Sabally each contributed 19 points, with Sabally showcasing her shooting prowess by sinking five three-pointers.
In an impressive performance, the Liberty nailed 16 of 31 attempts from beyond the arc, with Sabally's fifth three-pointer pushing the team ahead 91-73 midway through the fourth quarter. Overall, New York shot 54% from the field and achieved a franchise milestone with five players scoring at least 16 points in a single game for the first time.
Jonquel Jones added a solid contribution with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, while Marine Johannes scored 17 points and surpassed Cappie Pondexter for sixth place in franchise history for made three-pointers. Pauline Astier also chipped in with 16 points, including a remarkable halfcourt shot that ended the first half and gave New York a 51-44 lead.
Angel Reese led the Dream with 25 points and nine rebounds, while Rhyne Howard scored 24 points and achieved a remarkable milestone as the youngest player in WNBA history to hit 400 career three-pointers, accomplishing this in just 147 games. Allisha Gray contributed 18 points to Atlanta's effort.
Looking ahead, the Liberty will return home to face the Washington Mystics on Sunday, while the Dream travel to Toronto for their next game.
