Logan Webb Pitches Six Hitless Innings Against Brewers

MILWAUKEE (AP) — San Francisco Giants pitcher Logan Webb delivered an impressive performance on Wednesday night, not allowing a single hit through six innings against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Giants were ahead 1-0 thanks to Victor Bericoto, who hit his first career home run to start the fifth inning.

With 85 pitches thrown, Webb recorded four strikeouts and issued just one walk. His highest pitch count this season had been 104, achieved during a 9-3 win over the San Diego Padres on March 31.

Webb faced his first baserunner in the sixth inning when Sal Frelick walked on a high 3-2 pitch. Frelick managed to reach third base after two groundouts, but Christian Yelich's ground ball to first base ended the inning without any damage.

Brice Turang posed the biggest challenge to Webb's no-hit attempt, grounding out to third in the fourth inning. Matt Chapman made a remarkable play, backhanding the ball and throwing it to first to secure the out.

This season, there has been only one no-hitter in Major League Baseball, achieved by Tatsuya Imai, Steven Okert, and Alimber Santa of the Houston Astros against the Texas Rangers on May 25. The last no-hitter for the Giants was thrown by Blake Snell in a 3-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on August 2, 2024.
