MLB second base power rankings entering week 8

The 2026 MLB season is through seven weeks, and we have seen some surprising performances thus far. There is a lot of baseball left, and player statistics and team performances will see a lot of movement. As the league enters week eight, here are the top ten second basemen rankings.

MORE: 5 MLB hitters who are underperforming based on their advanced metrics

1. Xavier Edwards, Miami Marlins

Edwards is a hit machine. He’s among the league’s top second base leaders in hits, average, and on-base percentage. Miami is competing due to Edwards’ production hitting at the top of the batting order.

2. Ozzie Albies, Atlanta Braves

Ozzie Albies is off to a terrific start. He’s hitting for power, and his batting average isn’t suffering as it has in recent years. If he stays healthy, he can end the season as the top-ranked second baseman.

3. Brice Turang, Milwaukee Brewers

Turang is one of Milwaukee’s most lethal hitters. He’s getting on base, hitting for power, and stealing bases. He’s among MLB’s second base leaders in home runs and stolen bases.

4. Brandon Lowe, Pittsburgh Pirates

Entering the week, Lowe leads MLB second basemen in home runs. He’s been a fantastic addition to Pittsburgh’s lineup. If he stays healthy, Lowe can lead MLB second basemen in home runs by the end of the season.

5. Nico Hoerner, Chicago Cubs

Entering the week, Hoerner has been Chicago’s best hitter. He’s come up with clutch hits and is stealing bases. His name will be in contention for the NL All-Star roster.

6. Ernie Clement, Toronto Blue Jays

The veteran keeps producing. He’s getting the most playing time of his career, and he’s taking advantage of it. Entering the week, Clement is third in hits among MLB second basemen.

7. JJ Wetherholt, St. Louis Cardinals

The rookie is having a great start to the season. Entering the week, he’s third among MLB second basemen in home runs. The top St. Louis prospect has been the real deal.

8. Jeremiah Jackson, Baltimore Orioles

Jackson is having a solid start to the season. However, Jackson Holliday is close to returning to the lineup and could cut into Jackson’s playing time. If he continues to produce, Baltimore can decide to move either Jeremiah Jackson or Jackson Holliday to third base.

9. Chase Meidroth, Chicago White Sox

Meidroth is turning into a reliable second base producer. He’s quietly put together top ten productions. The White Sox are competing, and Meidroth has aided in the team’s success.

10. Luis Arraez, San Francisco Giants

He’s a hit machine. He doesn’t hit for much power, but he puts the ball where fielders are not positioned. Entering the week, Arraez is fourth in hits among MLB second basemen.
