Myles Garrett Joins Los Angeles Rams After Trade from Browns

In a significant move for both Myles Garrett and the Los Angeles Rams, the star defensive end has been traded from the Cleveland Browns. This transaction occurred on June 1, 2026, as Garrett expressed his ambition to compete for a Super Bowl title. “While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent,” Garrett stated back in February when he initially requested a trade. He emphasized that his aspirations never revolved around merely playing for the Browns but rather aimed at achieving championship glory.

Garrett has made a name for himself during his time in Cleveland, having set the NFL record for the most sacks in a single season with an impressive 23. Despite the Browns' disappointing 5-12 record last season, Garrett's performance solidified his legacy as one of the league's elite defensive players. He departs the Browns as the franchise's all-time leader in sacks (125.5), quarterback hits (239), and tackles for loss (149).

In exchange for Garrett, the Browns received edge rusher Jared Verse along with multiple draft picks— a first-round selection in 2027, a second-round pick in 2028, and a third-round pick in 2029. Following the trade, Garrett took to social media to share a heartfelt farewell to Cleveland fans and quickly settled into his new role in Los Angeles.

Upon his arrival in L.A., Garrett expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Rams, stating, “Rams Nation, so excited to be here. Very excited to play for a championship here at the end of the year. Let’s go.” His addition to the Rams, who already boast reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford, further enhances their chances of contending for another Super Bowl title.

The Rams have been aggressive in their pursuit of a championship, having also traded for All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie earlier this offseason. With Stafford entering the twilight of his career, the Rams are keenly focused on maximizing their window for success in the upcoming season.
