National boys basketball rankings: USA TODAY Sports Super 25, Week 8

There's a new No. 1 boys high school basketball team in the nation.

Top-ranked SPIRE Academy (Geneva, OH) fell to La Lumiere (La Porte, IN), its third loss of the season, pushing SPIRE out of the spot it had held since Week 3. La Lumiere closed out February extremely strong, taking down previously-ranked Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, NH) on Feb. 21 and winning six of its last seven games. With that stretch, it is back in the Super 25 high school boys basketball national rankings.

Taking the place of SPIRE is AZ Compass Prep (Chandler, AZ), a team that had held the No. 2 spot since Week 2. Finally, the one-loss team got to the top following strong performances on the Nike EYBL circuit behind Kaden and Kalek House and Demarcus Henry.

The rest of the top-3 consists of a pair of teams that won championships this past week. Paul VI (Chantilly, VA) took down Bishop O'Connell (Arlington, VA) behind 17 points apiece from Brian Mitchell Jr. and Lawrence Brown, and an eight-point, nine-rebound game from Jordan Smith. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, CA) outdueled Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, CA) behind Brannon Martinsen's 18 points, staving off the Wolverines' comeback attempt.
