Nebraska Pitcher Jordy Frahm Reveals Pregnancy Following WCWS Journey

OKLAHOMA CITY — Jordy Frahm, Nebraska's standout pitcher, made headlines this week as she announced her pregnancy after a remarkable run in the Women’s College World Series. The revelation came through an Instagram post on Monday, just a day after the Cornhuskers were knocked out in the quarterfinals. Frahm, who recently married former Nebraska baseball player Trey Frahm, is expecting her first child in December.

The two-time USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year had an impressive performance during the series, having held a perfect game into the fifth inning against Texas before the Longhorns rallied to win. In addition, her first-inning homer made her the first player in NCAA history to achieve back-to-back seasons with at least 20 wins as a pitcher and 20 home runs as a hitter. This lone run contributed to her team's efforts in a challenging matchup.

Earlier in the tournament, Frahm showcased her incredible skills with a phenomenal 10-inning performance that kept Nebraska's championship hopes alive. After the team's exit, she hinted at significant news on the horizon, reflecting on her journey: “God's fingerprints were all over this team, all over my story, all over my career,” she stated. “I do truly believe that the way today ended is a part of that story.”

Surprisingly, Frahm did not receive an AUSL Golden Ticket, a draft notification from the professional league, despite being a major figure in collegiate softball. After winning two national titles at Oklahoma, she transferred to Nebraska to be closer to her roots. Following an ACL injury that sidelined her initially, she returned to the sport stronger than ever, playing a vital role in revitalizing the program and inspiring young fans.

As she looks to the future, Frahm is one of the 36 athletes named to the 2026 Women’s National Team Athlete Pool, with the potential to compete in the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup in 2027. USA Softball CEO Craig Cress acknowledged the personal choices Frahm may face, stating, “From her standpoint, it’s completely her decision... I think she’d be great in the red, white and blue.” With the next Olympic softball tournament set for July 2028 in Oklahoma City, Frahm will have time to consider her options following the arrival of her child.

Throughout her college career, Frahm finished with an impressive 1.29 ERA and 937 strikeouts, while also excelling at the plate with a .422 batting average, 126 RBIs, and 43 home runs.
