Ole Miss Set to Face USC or UNC in College World Series Opener
Ole Miss baseball is preparing for its upcoming matchup against either Southern California or North Carolina in the first round of the College World Series. The Rebels, with a season record of 41-21, secured their place at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, after a successful sweep of Auburn in the super regional.
In the super regional, Ole Miss triumphed over Auburn with scores of 6-4 on June 5 and 5-3 on June 6. This marks the Rebels' first return to the College World Series since their championship victory in 2022, and it will be their seventh appearance in this prestigious tournament.
This season, Ole Miss has not faced either USC or UNC. North Carolina, the No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament, won the Chapel Hill Regional without dropping a game, while Southern California emerged victorious in the College Station Regional, defeating Texas A&M twice in the final.
USC and North Carolina are set to compete in a decisive Game 3 of their super regional on June 7, with USC winning the first encounter 9-5 and UNC bouncing back to take Game 2 with a 4-0 score. The other teams joining Ole Miss' bracket in the College World Series include West Virginia and Troy, as a total of eight teams will compete starting June 12.
