Oregon Secures Commitment from Linebacker Sam Ngata, Son of NFL Star

The Oregon Ducks continue to make headlines in their recruiting efforts, welcoming good news shortly after securing a commitment from five-star wide receiver Dakota Guerrant. On Tuesday, three-star linebacker Sam Ngata confirmed that he has officially ended his recruitment, solidifying his commitment to Oregon. Ngata has been committed to the Ducks since January, making this one of the longest-standing pledges in their current recruiting class. He opted for Oregon over offers from Cal, BYU, and Michigan.

Standing at 6-foot-5, Ngata is not just another recruit; he comes from a legacy of excellence. His father, Haloti Ngata, is a former Duck and a five-time NFL Pro Bowl defensive tackle, known for his impressive 13-year career that included a Super Bowl victory with the Baltimore Ravens and multiple All-Pro honors. This familial connection has made Sam a key player in attracting other recruits to the program.

During his junior season at Olympus High School, Ngata recorded an impressive 66 tackles, along with one sack and one interception. While the Ducks have recently added four-star linebackers Brandon Lockley Jr. and Toa Satele to their roster, Sam Ngata's longstanding ties to the program are significant. He joins other legacy recruits, including cornerback Josiah Molden and quarterback Akili Smith Jr., both of whom have connections to former Oregon players.
