The New England Patriots are making roster adjustments following the conclusion of the 2026 NFL Draft, and it looks like they have decided to part ways with one of their running backs on Tuesday.

According to Doug Kyed from the Boston Herald, the Patriots have released running back Elijah Mitchell.

New England signed Mitchell to the practice squad in late December and then inked him to a future contract after the conclusion of the Super Bowl in February.

Mitchell has spent four seasons in the NFL, playing three years with the San Francisco 49ers and one season with the Kansas City Chiefs. Over the course of 28 career games, he has recorded 1,523 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.

New England drafted Alabama running back Jam Miller in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, suggesting Mitchell's departure could be due to Miller's addition.

The Patriots also released two players on Monday, including tight end Hunter Lang and wide receiver John Jiles.

New England is gearing up for the rookie minicamp and mandatory minicamp, and we can expect a few more moves on the horizon.
