Phil Mickelson’s Membership at San Diego Golf Club Terminated Over Allegations

Phil Mickelson, a celebrated six-time major champion, has reportedly lost his membership at a San Diego golf club due to accusations of “inappropriate contact” with a female staff member. The Farms Golf Club has made headlines following this incident, which allegedly took place prior to one of Mickelson’s rounds earlier this spring, as first reported by Golf Digest.

According to multiple sources, the female employee alleged that the 55-year-old golfer engaged in “nonconsensual and inappropriate physical contact” with her. It is said that Mickelson was confronted about the allegations during his round and subsequently left the premises. A spokesperson for Mickelson stated, “Any misunderstanding has been cleared up,” adding that the golfer is currently focused on a family health issue, leaving his return to professional golf uncertain.

This season, Mickelson has largely been absent from the LIV tour, having also opted out of both the Masters and the US PGA Championship earlier this year. With the LIV tour facing financial uncertainty due to the impending loss of its Saudi Arabian funding, the future of Mickelson’s career remains in question.

The Farms Golf Club issued a statement emphasizing its commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all members and staff. They noted that any allegations of misconduct are taken seriously and that a thorough investigation was conducted following the staff member's report. The club confirmed that Mickelson is no longer a member.

In response to the unfolding situation, attorney Tom Clare remarked, “There is a great deal of misinformation circulating and, while Phil’s full attention is devoted to a private family health matter, he has retained defamation counsel and is determined to hold accountable any publication or individual trafficking in speculation or false rumors.”
