Post-NBA draft lottery projections for Darryn Peterson of Kansas

LAWRENCE — As Kansas basketball continues to make its way through the offseason, multiple players who competed for the Jayhawks this past season are pursuing professional careers.

The main one to know for the Jayhawks is freshman Darryn Peterson, who is in line to be one of the top picks. Another is sophomore Flory Bidunga, who has decided to transfer to Louisville but was invited to the NBA combine with Peterson and could turn pro, too. And now that the NBA draft lottery is set, there have been new mock drafts created that project where they two could land.

Here’s a look at a few of those projections, as of Sunday, May 10.

NBA mock draft projections for Kansas basketball standouts

ESPN

  • Darryn Peterson: 1st round, 2nd overall to Utah Jazz
  • Flory Bidunga: 2nd round, 41st overall to Miami Heat

CBS Sports

  • Darryn Peterson: 1st round, 2nd overall to Utah Jazz
  • Flory Bidunga: 1st round, 24th overall to New York Knicks

Yahoo Sports

  • Darryn Peterson: 1st round, 2nd overall to Utah Jazz
  • Flory Bidunga: 2nd round, 36th overall to Los Angeles Clippers

Peterson earned All-Big 12 Conference second team honors this past season and was also on the all-freshman team. Bidunga was a first team honoree and on the all-defensive team while being the defensive player of the year. They helped the team reach the semifinals of the Big 12 tournament and round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament, although health issues did cause Peterson to miss games at times.
