Previewing the 2026 U.S. Women's Open: Complete Player Lineup at Riviera Country Club
This week, the prestigious Riviera Country Club will host 156 competitors in the 81st U.S. Women's Open, marking the second major tournament of the season. Known for its challenging setup, the event features top-tier talent, with Nelly Korda standing out as the leading contender.
Korda, the current world No. 1, recently celebrated her victory at The Chevron Championship, her second time winning this event and her third major title overall. Following her triumph at Memorial Park, she also clinched the Riviera Maya Open, and her only other appearance since was a T-8 finish at the Kroger Queen City Championship in mid-May. Until that event, Korda had consistently placed no lower than second in her previous six tournaments. However, she has yet to secure a U.S. Women's Open title, her best result being a T-2 finish in 2025. Despite her recent performance, she remains the favorite in this major.
Among the other top-ranked players, Jeeno Thitikul, currently No. 2 in the world, is eager to capture her first major after winning the Mizuho Americas Open in May and the Honda LPGA Thailand earlier in the season. Ruoning Yin, the 2023 KPMG Women's PGA champion, is also a strong contender, having shown impressive form with several high finishes despite not yet winning this season.
Hyo-joo Kim, ranked third in the world, has experienced a lull in competition since finishing sixth at the Chevron in April, while Hannah Green is riding a wave of momentum with two tournament victories this season. Lydia Ko, a major winner, is seeking her first U.S. Women's Open title, which would complete her career grand slam. Other noteworthy players include defending champion Maja Stark and three-time major winner Minjee Lee, both looking to reclaim their status in the field.
This year's U.S. Women's Open promises to deliver thrilling competition as seasoned champions and rising stars vie for the title at one of golf's most revered courses.
