Robert Griffin III Hosts Successful Sixth Football Academy Camp in Waco

WACO, Texas (FOX 44) — Rain or shine, the sixth iteration of Robert Griffin III’s Football Academy took place seamlessly on Saturday. The former Heisman Trophy winner expressed the significance of the event, stating, “It makes you feel like you’re doing something bigger than yourself and being a part of something bigger than yourself. That’s what Baylor’s all about.”

Over 300 young athletes gathered at the Allison Indoor Practice Facility for the camp, which attracted local high school football talents and promising prospects in the Baylor area. Griffin noted, “There’s going to be young men that come from this camp that are going to be Baylor Bears and that are going to be stars at the college level,” emphasizing the opportunity for Baylor coaches to scout emerging talent.

The camp is organized by Baylor football and its coaching staff, strengthening the bond between head coach Dave Aranda and Griffin. “Coach Aranda has been incredible,” Griffin remarked. “You want to see good people win and he’s good people… There’s an appreciation for how we got to his point and why the expectation is what it is at Baylor.”

As a native of Copperas Cove and a beloved figure at Baylor, Griffin is dedicated to giving back to the communities that shaped him. “It’s always good to see [top recruits] in one spot and just compete and be with the kids,” he shared, reflecting on the camp's success.
