Seahawks IOL Christian Haynes appears to be in no-man's land
There's been a lot of discussion about the Seattle Seahawks' interior offensive line this month. Most recently, backup center Olu Oluwatimi has been linked to potentially being traded this offseason. Young interior blockers Jalen Sundell and Grey Zabel are expected to take bigger steps forward in 2026.
At right guard, Anthony Bradford is entering a make-or-break contract year. The Seahawks drafted former Iowa guard Beau Stephens during the 2026 NFL draft. Some expect Stephens to push Bradford for the starting gig, or to succeed him in 2027.
Where does that leave Christian Haynes? The 2024 third-round pick was the original alternative plan to eventually replace Bradford. He hasn't played well enough to establish himself as a future starter, and that promise is now being replaced by Stephens.
Haynes is arguably the biggest blemish on John Schneider's otherwise squeaky-clean recent draft history. The former UConn standout has been given every opportunity to impress the Seahawks' coaching staff. Haynes simply hasn't taken advantage of the spots he's been placed in.
Haynes will probably make the Seahawks' 53-man roster, though it wouldn't be shocking if he was available for trade this offseason. If Oluwatimi is traded instead, perhaps Haynes can be cross-trained at center and find a role as the backup snapper behind Sundell. Looking around the Seahawks' interior, Haynes appears to be in no-man's land on this roster.
