Sean McVay Open to Aaron Donald's Possible Return to Rams

Aaron Donald has expressed interest in potentially returning to the NFL, stating, "I’m for sure flirting with the idea," in a recent message to Jordan Schultz of The Schultz Report. The 35-year-old defensive star hinted at the allure of competing for a Super Bowl title at SoFi Stadium this season, saying, "If I can find the fire, it’s a possibility.” This conversation comes after the Los Angeles Rams acquired reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett on Monday, prompting Donald to reconsider his playing future.

During Garrett's introductory press conference on Tuesday, Rams head coach Sean McVay addressed the prospect of Donald making a comeback. "Listen, if he's interested," McVay remarked. He further noted that he has been in communication with Donald following the trade, emphasizing the strong respect Donald has for Garrett. "Talked to him about the opportunity to bring [Garrett] on board," he said. "If Aaron decides he wants to dust 'em off at the age of 35, I bet you he can still do it at a pretty high clip."

While the Rams would face challenges fitting Donald under their salary cap, McVay suggested that they would find a way to accommodate the three-time Defensive Player of the Year if he chooses to return. The situation remains fluid as the team navigates this potential development.
