South Dakota State Baseball's Season Concludes with Heavy Defeat to Arizona State

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits, ranked No. 4, faced a disappointing end to their season after suffering a significant 17-0 defeat against No. 3 Arizona State in an elimination match at the NCAA Tournament's Lincoln Regional. The loss marked a challenging moment for the team, which had hoped to advance further in the postseason.

In this game, the Jackrabbits struggled defensively, particularly in the fifth and sixth innings where they allowed a staggering 16 runs. Starting pitcher Drew McDowell lasted just over four innings, giving up three runs. The relief pitchers struggled even more, with three of them failing to record an out. Kaden Rylance walked two batters who eventually scored, while Tristan Augedahl conceded six runs, five of which were earned, on four hits and a walk. Austin Henry also faced difficulties, allowing a run while walking two batters. Sam Novotny came in next, surrendering four earned runs over his two innings.
