South Jersey Baseball Semifinals Showcase Thrilling Matchups

In a competitive showdown on Wednesday, the Delsea Regional High School baseball team secured a spot in the South Jersey Group 3 final with a 4-1 victory over Toms River South, thanks to a stellar performance by senior Kyle Harrison. The fourth-seeded Crusaders, now holding a record of 19-6, will aim for their second sectional title in three years when they face seventh-seeded Mainland on Friday. Harrison has been in impressive form, yielding just one run across his last five outings and striking out ten batters in this contest.

During the game, Harrison dominated the mound, throwing 112 pitches and silencing the Toms River South offense for the final six innings after they scored in the first. Delsea's offense was bolstered by leadoff hitter Milo Gebhard, who contributed two RBIs and stole two bases, while teammates Dom Montana and Andrew Weir also added runs to the scoreboard.

Mainland advanced to the sectional final with a commanding 7-0 win over Toms River East, where senior Will Hickman excelled on the mound, allowing no runs in seven innings while throwing 90 pitches. The Mustangs, aiming for their first sectional championship since 2023, will challenge Delsea in the upcoming final.

In the Central Jersey Group 3 bracket, Northern Burlington triumphed over Lawrence with a dramatic 7-6 victory, overcoming a five-run deficit late in the game. The top-seeded Greyhounds (24-3) will host third-seeded Brick Memorial (23-7) in the sectional championship. Key contributions came from Liam Velit and Mark Klusman, who each hit home runs, while Jake Vasil's two-run homer proved crucial.

Eastern secured its place in the South Jersey Group 4 final by defeating Cherry Hill East 10-1, marking their fourth consecutive trip to the sectional final. The Vikings, now aiming for their third title in four years, will face top-seeded Kingsway. Meanwhile, Kingsway advanced following a 4-1 win over Rancocas Valley, led by Nate Bott, who made a strong return to the mound.

In South Jersey Group 2 action, Haddonfield edged out Seneca 1-0, with Will Solak pitching a four-hitter and James Rowe driving in the only run of the game. Haddonfield will meet Haddon Heights, who defeated Cedar Creek 8-6, in a rematch following their regular-season split.

Meanwhile, in South Jersey Group 1, Maple Shade pulled off an upset over top-seeded Schalick, winning 6-4, while Woodstown advanced with a 6-3 victory against Pennsville. Both teams will vie for sectional titles in the coming days.
