Southern California High School Softball Playoff Results and Upcoming Matches
The CIF Southern California softball regionals saw some decisive outcomes on Tuesday as teams competed in the first round of the playoffs. Notably, several teams advanced due to forfeits, while others showcased dominant performances on the field.
In Division I, Chula Vista Mater Dei received a bye, while Point Loma triumphed over Whittier Christian with a score of 10-1. St. Paul secured a victory against Murrieta Mesa by forfeit, and La Habra also advanced with a forfeit win against Bonita.
Division II featured a close match as Riverside Prep edged out Del Norte with a score of 1-0. The game between Redwood and Birmingham is scheduled for Wednesday at 3 p.m. Garces Memorial defeated Oxnard 3-0, and Great Oak took down El Capitan with a score of 9-4.
In Division III, Mission College Prep surprised top-seeded Venice with a 4-2 win. Hanford West secured a significant victory against Eagle Rock, scoring 19 runs to Eagle Rock's single run. Grace emerged victorious against Brawley, winning 9-3, and Helix defeated Covina 14-7.
For Division IV, San Diego Madison triumphed over Arleta with a score of 10-4, while Grossmont narrowly beat Arroyo 7-4. Irvine edged past Avenal in a close game, finishing 8-7, and Woodlake defeated Edgewood 8-4.
In Division V, Arroyo Valley had a bye, La Jolla dominated Franklin with a 16-3 score, and San Bernardino took a close match against Monte Vista, winning 9-6. South East also enjoyed a bye.
Looking ahead, the semifinals are set for Thursday at 4 p.m. with several exciting matchups lined up across all divisions. The finals for each division will take place on Saturday, June 6, at 4 p.m., hosted at the higher seeds' venues.
