USMNT Prepares to Face Paraguay in World Cup Opener

Historically, the USMNT has a favorable record against Paraguay, with five wins, two losses, and two draws in their competitions dating back to the first World Cup in 1930. Notably, during the 1930 tournament, Bert Patenaude scored the first-ever hat trick in World Cup history, leading the U.S. to a 3-0 victory. Their most recent clash ended in a 2-1 victory for the U.S. on November 16, 2025, showcasing Gio Reyna and Folarin Balogun's impressive performances.

Currently, Paraguay ranks 41st in the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Rankings. The team has been gearing up for their first World Cup appearance since 2010 by competing against a variety of opponents across different confederations.
