Texas Longhorns and Texas Tech Set New Viewership Milestones in WCWS Finals

ESPN has revealed that the 2026 Women’s College World Series (WCWS) achieved unprecedented viewership figures, particularly during the Finals between Texas and Texas Tech. The Longhorns captured their second consecutive national championship in this thrilling two-game series.
According to ESPN’s public relations department, the WCWS Finals averaged 2.2 million viewers, making it the second most-watched in history. The first game attracted 1.9 million viewers, ranking it as the third most-viewed Game 1 ever, while Game 2 reached an impressive 2.5 million viewers, setting a record for the most-watched college softball game of all time. The peak viewership for Game 2 soared to 3 million, reflecting a 16 percent increase compared to the previous year's Game 2.
Overall, the WCWS witnessed a 20 percent rise in viewership from 2025, averaging 1.6 million viewers across 16 games aired on ESPN networks. This year’s event surpassed last season's record, with a remarkable 15 games attracting over a million viewers, including three that exceeded the 2 million mark.
The excitement surrounding the Longhorns’ victory was palpable, and their success has resonated throughout the Texas sports community.
