Mets' Kodai Senga Set to Pitch for Double-A Binghamton on Thursday
The New York Mets announced following their defeat against the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday that Kodai Senga will take the mound for Double-A Binghamton on Thursday. This marks a continuation of his rehabilitation assignment, which was interrupted when he was unable to pitch on Tuesday due to ulnar nerve irritation.
The decision comes as no surprise, as Senga reported feeling positive after participating in catch sessions earlier this week. Manager Carlos Mendoza expressed optimism before the game, noting, “I wouldn’t be surprised if [Senga] was pitching in a game tomorrow or the next day.”
The Mets are hopeful that this minor setback will not affect Senga's return to the big league roster once his rehab stint concludes. The right-handed pitcher aims to regain his form in the minors after a challenging start to the season, which included a stint on the injured list due to lumbar spine inflammation.
So far in the 2026 season, Senga has struggled, holding an 0-4 record with a 9.00 ERA across five starts. His performances during rehab have also been less than stellar, with a 5.25 ERA in three outings shared between Double-A and Triple-A.
