Vikings Fans Divided Over Quarterback Battle Between McCarthy and Murray
EAGAN, MINNESOTA - During an OTA workout on May 27, 2026, Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks J.J. McCarthy, Kyler Murray, and Max Brosmer were observed at the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center. Recent results from an SB Nation Reacts survey shed light on fans' opinions regarding the ongoing competition for the starting quarterback position.
The survey posed a pivotal question: Do fans believe the Vikings' quarterback competition is genuine, or do they think the coaching staff has already made their decision on who will be QB1? The results were closely contested, with 51% of respondents believing that the coaches have already settled on a starter, while 49% are convinced that a true competition exists.
Many supporters express a desire for the competition to be legitimate, particularly regarding McCarthy’s potential. However, some fans question what accomplishments Murray has achieved to automatically warrant the starting role without facing significant competition. As one fan noted, “I’d like to think that there would have to be something beyond that.”
The coaching staff has indicated that the quarterback battle is set to continue into training camp next month, meaning no clear resolution will emerge before then. The division among fans reflects their hopes for an authentic competition as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
Additionally, the survey included another question, but some data issues resulted in delays in reporting those findings. We appreciate everyone who participated and look forward to more surveys leading up to training camp.
