Vote for the Columbia area's top high school team from 2025-26 TSSAA seasons

The 2025-26 Tennessee high school sports seasons have wrapped with the conclusion of Murfreesboro's weather-delayed TSSAA state tournaments on May 23.

There were four Columbia area teams crowned TSSAA state champions this school year, while a handful more finished among the top teams in the state for their respective sports.

Now as we enter the summer break, The Daily Herald is giving fans the chance to select the Columbia area's very best team across all sports this past school year.

Vote below to decide the Columbia area's top high school team from the 2025-26 TSSAA seasons.

Here are the nominees.

Richland baseball: Richland went 33-5 and claimed the Class 1A TSSAA state championship, the program's first, knocking off four-time defending state champion Eagleville. The Raiders also won the Region 5-A title.

Loretto boys basketball: The Mustangs finished 20-11, reaching the Class 2A state semifinals while also claiming the Region 5-2A title.

Columbia Academy boys bowling: Columbia Academy finished Division II state runner-up and also won the Middle Region title.

Independence boys cross-country: Independence won the Class AAA state championship, with all seven Eagles runners finishing inside the top 35 at the championship meet. The Eagles also claimed the Section 7-AAA title.

Columbia Central football: The Lions won the Region 4-5A title and reached the second round of Class 5A playoffs, falling to Knoxville Central to finish the season 7-4. Columbia set a program record for points scored in a 70-42 win over East Hamilton in the first round of playoffs.

Richland girls basketball: Richland won the Class A TSSAA state championship, the first in program history, closing the season 28-3. The Lady Raiders also won the District 9-A and Region 5-A titles.

Summertown girls golf: The Lady Eagles finished solo third at the Class A state tournament, with three individual competitors placing inside the top 20.

Summit girls soccer: Summit went 15-4, reaching the TSSAA state tournament for the first time in program history. The Lady Spartans set program records for wins, goals and shutouts in a season, finishing atop its district in the regular season while claiming second in the District 10 and Region 5 tournaments.

Summertown softball: Summertown closed the season 33-10, winning the District 9-2A title before going on to reach the final four at the Class 2A TSSAA state tournament.

Summit volleyball: Summit won the Class AAA TSSAA state championship as it made the program's first-ever state tournament appearance. The Lady Spartans closed the season 29-8, also winning the District 10-AAA title, while finishing Region 5-AAA runner up.
