Washington Huskies Secure Commitment from Talented 4-Star Arizona Wide Receiver

The Washington Huskies have strengthened their 2027 recruiting class with the commitment of four-star wide receiver Dontay Tyson, who opted for Jedd Fisch's program over offers from the Texas A&M Aggies. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 190 pounds, Tyson hails from Peoria High School in Arizona and is recognized as the No. 39 wide receiver and the sixth-best player in his state, according to 247Sports.

After receiving 20 scholarship offers, Tyson narrowed his choices to two and made his decision shortly after visiting Seattle for an official tour. His addition is a significant boost to an already impressive lineup of wide receivers, which includes fellow four-stars Braylon Pope, Tre Moore, and Zerek Sidney, all under the guidance of position coach Kevin Cummings.

Despite a junior season limited to just seven games, Tyson still managed to record 38 receptions for 447 yards and seven touchdowns, showcasing a skill set that could see him make an early impact at the collegiate level. As former 247Sports analyst Greg Biggins noted, "He really excels on go routes and wide receiver screens and has home run hitting ability." Biggins also highlighted Tyson's strength in the air and ability to secure contested catches, stating, "He uses his body well to shield smaller defensive backs and is tough to bring down in the open field."

With Tyson's commitment, Washington now boasts 17 recruits for the 2027 class and currently holds the No. 14 ranking nationally, according to 247Sports. This development reflects the Huskies' ongoing efforts to build a competitive roster for the future.
