Weather Disrupts UIL Baseball State Championship Timetable

Unfavorable weather conditions in Central Texas have caused significant adjustments to the schedule for the final days of the 2026 UIL Baseball State Championships. Eleven title games were initially set to take place from Thursday, June 4, to Saturday, June 6, with the first day proceeding without issues for the 2A and 3A divisions.

However, Friday brought severe thunderstorms, leading to numerous game delays and postponements. The impacts were felt on Saturday as well, with the start of Class 4A and 5A state title games pushed back due to rain. The match between Corpus Christi Calallen and Texarkana Pleasant Grove began 50 minutes late, later facing an additional 58-minute weather delay, concluding at 1:07 p.m.

This setback resulted in Brock and Waco Robinson's game in the Class 4A DII state championship starting 76 minutes behind schedule, compounded by another 48-minute delay, ultimately finishing at 5:19 p.m. The weather challenges continued into the evening, with the Class 5A DII game between Aledo and Montgomery Lake Creek experiencing its own delay beginning in the first inning at 6:59 p.m.

In light of these disruptions, the University Interscholastic League has updated the expected start times for the remaining state championship games. The anticipated clash between the Gordon Longhorns and Groveton Centerville Bulldogs in the Class 1A state championship has been rescheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Dell Diamond, following the conclusion of the Class 5A Division I game.

The Sharyland Rattlers and Lucas Lovejoy Leopards will now kick off Saturday's action at 9 a.m., while the 6A DI title game between Lake Travis and Keller has been moved to 3 p.m. The 6A DII matchup featuring Houston Memorial and Tomball will start at 6 p.m., two hours later than originally planned.
