Mark Stone is a key piece of what the Vegas Golden Knights do.

The talented all-around forward can make an impact all over the ice, and with Vegas still pursuing a Stanley Cup, Stone's presence is vital.

At the moment, though, he's still injured. He was hurt in Game 3 of the second round against the Anaheim Ducks and hasn't played since.

The Golden Knights have the difficult Western Conference Final matchup with the high-powered Colorado Avalanche. Stone could make a big difference.

So there are certainly plenty of Vegas fans hoping Stone can make it back sooner rather than later.

When is Mark Stone coming back?

Mark Stone's return timeline isn't clear yet, but he's making progress.

He skated Wednesday for the first time since sustaining his lower-body injury, according to The Athletic.

Vegas head coach John Tortorella opted not to provide a further update when asked about Stone after the skate.

Getting back on the ice is key, but it seems like Stone would still need a bit longer before he was up to speed enough to play in a conference finals series.

When Stone is ready, Vegas will surely put him right back in the lineup.

This season, he played 60 regular season games and had 28 goals and 45 assists for 73 points.

Stone gets the job done in the defensive zone, too, including on the penalty kill.

Vegas would love to get him back as soon as possible.
