Which teams make the Women's College World Series?

The super regional round of the NCAA softball tournament kicks off on Thursday evening with Georgia taking on Tennessee, and Nebraska and Oklahoma State squaring off before the rest of the field begins their series on Friday. The Oklahoma Sooners will open their series on Friday against Mississippi State.

It's a deep field in 2026, and a number of teams have the potential to win it all. But first, eight teams need to punch their ticket to Oklahoma City for the Women's College World Series. This weekend will feature outstanding pitchers and explosive lineups in what will be a fantastic and dramatic super regional round.

Ahead of Thursday evening's openers, here are my predictions for all eight series.

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. LSU Tigers

March 15, 2026; Tuscaloosa, AL, USA; Alabama pitcher Jocelyn Briski makes a pitch at Rhoads Stadium. Alabama defeated Arkansas 4-1 to claim the series.

Alabama is one of the most complete teams in the nation. They pitch well and they can put runs on the board. Alabama and LSU haven't played this season but the Crimson Tide average more runs per game and a lower team ERA than the Tigers. Look for the Crimson Tide to take the super regional behind strong performances from Jocelyn Briski and Vic Moten.

Prediction: Alabama in 2

Texas Longhorns vs. Arizona State Sun Devils

Texas pitcher Teagan Kavan against Alabama in SEC series.

Arizona State earned one of the upsets of the regional round. It was an up and down season for the Sun Devils but they've been on a roll of late. Since getting swept by Texas Tech, Arizona State has rattled off six wins in a row, which featured a sweep of BYU and wins over ranked opponents Arizona, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech to win the Big 12 tournament title. But now they face the defending national champion, the Texas Longhorns.

Texas has one of the best offenses in the Super Regionals and a battle-tested pitcher in Tegan Kavan. The Longhorns should win this one, but it's easy to imagine it going three games.

Prediction: Texas in 3

Oklahoma Sooners vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs

Oklahoma's Ella Parker (5) rounds the bases after a home run in the second inning during the NCAA Norman Softball Regional game between the University of Oklahoma Sooners and Binghamton Bearcats at Love's Field in Norman, Okla., May, 15, 2026.

Mississippi State has one of the best pitching staffs in the NCAA tournament, with a team ERA of 2.15, the fifth-lowest among the remaining teams. Their issue is that they don't score a lot of runs, averaging the fewest runs per game among the 16 teams left in the field. If the Bulldogs can keep the Sooners' offense under 5 runs per game for the series, they'll have a shot to pull off the upset.

But the problem is it's hard to hold down the Sooners' lineup. They're having a historic season at the plate and were great in the Norman Regional, outscoring their opponents 28-1. The Sooners pitching staff looked good in the opening round. If they can keep that rolling, OU will be heading to Oklahoma City for the 10th consecutive year.

Prediction: Oklahoma in 2

Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Oklahoma State Cowgirls

Nebraska's Jordy Frahm (98) celebrates during the college softball game between the Oklahoma State University Cowgirls and the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Stillwater, Okla., Thursday Feb. 26, 2026.

This is one of the more intriguing matchups in the Super Regional round. National Player of the Year finalist Jordy Frahm has been electric, leading the Nebraska Cornhuskers to a top-five season and Big Ten championship. The Cornhuskers have won 24 games in a row and lost just one conference game. Led by Frahm, they own the second-lowest team ERA in the field and average nearly seven runs per game.

Oklahoma State is capable of playing with the Cornhuskers, though. Ruby Meylan has been great in her own right, earning Big 12 co-Pitcher of the Year in 2026. Oklahoma State can score, and they're a little more battle-tested. However, it's hard to pick against Frahm in a three-game series.

Prediction: Nebraska in 3

Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Duke Blue Devils

Arkansas pitcher Robyn Herron (11) during the college softball game between the University of Oklahoma Sooners and the Arkansas Razorbacks at Love's Filed in Norman, Okla., Friday April 17, 2026.

Both Arkansas and Duke can hit. They both average 7.55 runs per game this season. The difference in this series is going to be Arkansas' pitching, which has an ERA two points lower than the Blue Devils.

Duke's a good program, but they haven't faced a team like the Razorbacks since facing Oklahoma and UCLA back in the Mary Nutter Classic. Duke allowed 10-plus runs in both games.

Prediction: Arkansas in 2

Florida Gators vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders

Texas Tech's Kaitlyn Terry reacts to a strikeout against Ole Miss during the Lubbock Regional of the NCAA Division I softball tournament, Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Tracy Sellers Field.

Texas Tech had a miraculous comeback with two outs in the seventh to erase an 8-0 deficit against Ole Miss and then throttled the Rebels in the regional final. They're a force in the circle with NiJaree Canady and Kaitlyn Terry and the Red Raiders have the highest scoring offense remaining in the tournament.

Florida is arguably the best team the Red Raiders have faced since February, when they went 2-1 against Nebraska, Florida State, and Texas A&M, with all three games finishing 3-2.

The Gators offense is one of the best left in the tournament and are solid in the circle. This series is going to go three games, but it's hard to bet against Canady and Terry.

Prediction: Texas Tech in 3

Tennessee Volunteers vs. Georgia Bulldogs

Tennessee's Karlyn Pickens (23) pitches a Women's College World Series softball game between the Oklahoma Sooners (OU) and the Tennessee Volunteers at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, Thursday, May 29, 2025.

This is a series of styles makes fights. Tennessee's vaunted pitching staff vs. Georgia's lineup.

Since getting swept by the Oklahoma Sooners, Georgia's been on a roll, going 7-2 and scoring seven or more runs in five of those seven wins. But they're going up against the best pitching staff in the tournament in the Tennessee Volunteers. Led by Karlyn Pickens, the Vols have a team ERA of 1.37. This series is likely going to go three games as the Bulldogs have been battling for wins of late, but Tennessee is just too good in the circle to pick against.

Prediction: Tennessee in 3

UCLA Bruins vs. UCF Knights

Jun 1, 2025; Oklahoma City, OK, USA; UCLA Bruins utility Megan Grant (43) rounds the bases after hitting a two run home run tying the game in the seventh inning against the Tennessee Lady Volunteers during the NCAA Softball Women's College World Series at Devon Park.

The UCLA Bruins have the highest scoring offense in the tournament, led by Jordan Woolery and Megan Grant, averaging 10.82 runs per game. Their problem has been pitching, where the team has an ERA of 4.37. UCF is solid in the circle and at the plate, ranking ninth in the tournament in team ERA but are just 12th in the field in runs per game. The Knights will need Tori Payne and Isabella Vega to have repeat performances from the regional round for UCF to have a chance.

Prediction: UCLA in 3
