Yankees Star Aaron Judge Faces Extended Absence Due to Rib Injury

The New York Yankees will be without their star outfielder, Aaron Judge, for an extended period following a recent medical diagnosis. The team has confirmed that Judge is suffering from a stress fracture in the first rib on his right side, which will keep him sidelined for at least four weeks. He is set to undergo a re-evaluation in four to six weeks, with hopes of returning to the lineup later this season.

Judge has not played since May 31 as the Yankees' medical team worked to diagnose the underlying issue. Initially, he was believed to have a bone bruise near his right ribcage, stemming from ongoing discomfort in his right shoulder. This season, the captain has played 59 games, achieving a batting average of .248 with 17 home runs and 38 RBIs.

"Aaron obviously means a lot to us," remarked Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole earlier this week. "He just plays great baseball all the time and brings great energy. It's tough when guys get hurt, but unfortunately, it's part of the game. As a team, you've got to figure out how to step up in those situations, and so that's what we'll do."

Since May 11, Judge's performance has noticeably declined, with a batting average of .206, one home run, eight RBIs, and 19 strikeouts. In his absence, José Caballero has stepped in to fill the right field position for the Yankees.
